This apple tree grows a sweet, aromatic red apple. It originated from East Malling in Kent 1949 as a cross between Jonathan and Cox's Orange Pippin. The apple trees are hardy, so are good for exposed areas, in fact one of our customers has had great success growing these in Elgin (north of Inverness). The apples are generally blemish free and when freshly picked in mid October are rich and acidic, but they mellow with storage, becoming sweeter and more aromatic after Christmas.
