Golden Noble is a lovely cooker. It was found in an old orchard in 1820 at Downham, Norfolk, but may be older as records list a Golden Noble apple in Yorkshire nearly one hundred years earlier. It is a mid-season apple with handsome golden skin and a good fruity flavour, requiring little added sugar and with less acidity than a Bramley. Its natural sweetness makes it an excellent choice for pies and by March it makes a fine, brisk eating apple.
